3. Gatlinburg

Maybe the beach isn’t your thing? Perhaps you’re more into the mountains and hiking? If so, Gatlinburg, Tennessee is the place to go.  Like Myrtle Beach, Gatlinburg offers up a variety of tourist activities. Whether you want to catch a theatre show, go ziplining, hit some shops, or otherwise, you and your family will be accommodated.  Located in the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg is equal parts beautiful and bustling. It’s crawling with tourists during the summer months, creating the perfect atmosphere for family fun. 

4. Cedar Point

There are a variety of great amusement parks spread throughout the United States. However, if you’re looking for the best of the best, you need to head to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.  Cedar Point has a bit to offer for everyone, from water rides to small roller coasters to huge roller coasters to festival-style rides and more. It, of course, also has a bevy of food to eat and games to participate in.  Whether your kids are young, old, or somewhere in between, Cedar Point is a place that they’re sure to enjoy. 5. Chicago

Chicago might not seem like the greatest destination for a family vacation. After all, it’s just a big city. It’s one of America’s great cities and an appealing tourist destination all the same. 

6. Yellowstone National Park

The United States has no shortage of wonderful National Parks. Arguably the greatest of these is Yellowstone in the states of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.  Yellowstone is characterized by an expanse of rivers, canyons, geysers, springs, and the like. In certain areas, it almost feels like a different planet.  In addition, it’s home to a bevy of interesting wildlife. These run the gamut from bison to bears to antelope to wolves and more.  If you’re a camping type, or if you just like experiencing new places, Yellowstone is a place that you have to see. Not only will you find it fascinating but your children as well. 

7. Washington, DC

Another location that you might consider for your family vacation is the United States capital, Washington, DC. Located between Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, DC is like a living, breathing history museum. Famous monuments can be found at every turn, and they’re sure to impress everyone in the family.  From the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial to the White House to the Capitol Building and more, Washington, DC has it all. Of course, it has a variety of museums as well, including a series of Smithsonian museums.  Apart from these things, you can find all sorts of other city amenities, from parks to restaurants and more. 8. New York City

In terms of renown and prestige, New York City is the best city America has to offer. In fact, it might even be the best city in the world. Containing essentially everything under the sun, it’s great for people of all ages.  There are all sorts of things to do in New York. You can visit Times Square, walk through Central Park, see a Broadway show for the family, go to the top of the Empire State Building, see the Statue of Liberty, and more.
